Children's Day, celebrated every year on November 14, highlights the importance of children's rights and welfare. In India, this day also marks the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation's first Prime Minister, who was fondly called "Chacha Nehru" for his deep affection for children. Nehru’s advocacy for children's rights and education makes this day a fitting tribute to his legacy.

Children's Day 2024 :-
The roots of Children’s Day go back to the early 20th century, when the global movement for child rights began to take shape. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed Universal Children’s Day in 1954 to raise awareness about children’s safety, upbringing, and their right to a good life. The celebration takes place on November 20 globally to mark the adoption of the ‘Declaration of the Rights of the Child’ in 1959 and the ‘Convention on the Rights of the Child’ in 1989.

Significance of Children’s Day in India
In India, Children’s Day is observed on November 14 to honor Nehru’s commitment to children’s well-being. The day serves as a reminder of the need to ensure a safe, healthy childhood, focusing on education, nutrition, and a protective environment. It emphasizes the importance of nurturing children, who are the future leaders of the world.

World Children’s Day 2024 Theme
This year’s theme for World Children’s Day is “For every child, every right,” which calls for efforts to ensure that all children receive their fundamental rights. This includes the right to education, food, housing, sanitation, and protection from harmful work. These promises serve as a reminder that more work is needed to guarantee that all children can grow into responsible and empowered adults.
